They got a 100% health rating. So Proud of them. My husband and I come from New Bern to pick up his motorcycle and had to try this. He is vegetarian. He is in love with all the choices. He tried the Olemac bowl. He loves spicy. He said it was perfectly made and wish we lived closer or they would open closer to us. Best Cole slaw I've had it a long time.
It was such a pleasant surprise to find a fully vegan restaurant in Hickory as I was passing through! The owners of the restaurant are incredibly nice and hospitable. It’s a couple and I believe the husband is the executive chef; the food is really flavorful and nutritious. I got the Olmec bowl with chorizo and there was some kind of sauce on it that was super unique - I’ve never tasted anything like it before, and it was so complementary to the dish. I look forward to returning and trying more dishes and the smoothies! The interior was very cute, but my understanding is that they are moving to an even better one that will have parking, attached restrooms, the ability to serve wine, etc. I hope this restaurant continues to see great success, it’s clear that the owners are really passionate about what they do and I love to see that!
This is an amazing gem. Hickory doesn’t have many vegan restaurants but, I’ve been to several around the area and this is the best by far. My husband and I both got the pesto chicken and it was delicious Mac salad was phenomenal everything was so delicious and tasteful. Staff were so helpful and very friendly. Definitely recommend if you’re looking for a vegan lifestyle change
Everything is simply amazining. This is the first time i have ever experienced this style of eatting. As im doing the daniel 21 day fast. And after 4 days in i really needed help finding somewhere i could get something to eat. And they were Phenomonal with helping me and the meal i got. Oh my god was amazing. Thank u plant base boss and google foe telling me about u guys. Ill be see u alot and even after the fast is over
Food 10/10. Atmosphere 10/10. Service 10/10. The owner (I wish I had caught her name) was so nice and helpful. My wife and I both got the Olmec bowl and it was delicious! The salsa macha has me looking up the recipe to make it myself. She said they were going to start bottling it and selling it in the restaurant so do yourself a favor and grab a jar when you go try this place out. The decor is so cool and the music choice was even better - chill reggae. We loved Plant Base Boss!!!!
I have to rave about Plant Based Boss! 🌱✨ Listen… I’m not even plant based and this food was SO good. Don’t be scared to try it because everything was flavorful, fresh, and seriously delicious. I had the burrito bowl and it was amazing! The customer service was exceptional too. They took the time to explain everything on the menu and made the whole experience feel welcoming and easy. You can tell they really care about their customers. The place itself is also super quaint and cute with such a good vibe. Definitely worth checking out whether you’re plant based or not!
This place is amazing!!! I could have sat there and ate 2 more. I forgot what the dish was called, who I assume was the manager suggested that if spicy is what I wanted, she pointed at and I just went with it. I chose the carne asada style, it wasn't super spicy but damn good. Highly recommend!!!
First time eating vegan and it was absolutely delicious. The staff is very knowledgeable and helped me pick a wonderful lunch. Highly recommended.
I was looking for clean, great tasting food during my short stay in Hickory and after two ok and one disgusting meal, Plant Based Boss provided exactly what I was seeking. The ambience was very inviting and pleasant with calming Reggae grooves playing in the background. Justice as the other individual working were extremely attentive and friendly. I ordered the flavor exploding, mouthwatering, BBQ sandwich with Macaroni salad and was most satisfied with both. I will definitely return if ever in Hickory again. I only wish they were open everyday during my visit as I would not have eaten anywhere else.
Plant Based Boss is a gem in downtown Hickory. Some context: I do eat meat, but I also prioritize eating meals that are vegetarian or fully plant based. The food here is amazing, in my opinion, but I think it would also be very good for people who don't like "rabbit food" (as they are known to call it). Does it taste exactly like meat? No. But it's pretty damn close and has great texture and incredible flavor. My favorite item right now is the Hawaiian BBQ wrap. Either BBQ "chicken" or "ribs," mixed with coleslaw, and mac salad. I'm actually obsessed. It balances tangy and salty with sweetness perfectly. And for what it's worth, the owners are so nice and deserve support for making plant-based food more accessible in a small town.
